In this episode of Fox 17’s Know the Law, personal injury attorney Tom Sinas discusses Defamation Law and a person’s rights to free speech, as well as rights to claims against certain speech or publication.
What is Defamation, Libel, or Slander?
Defamation is a broad term for damaging another’s reputation. Libel and slander are terms describing the manner in which that damage was applied. Libel is written or printed, while slander is spoken. Defamation laws refer to false defamatory statements made that cause harm to a person.
