The Tradition of Giving Back Continues

Sinas Dramis Law Firm Participates in the 2014 Horn of Plenty Food and Clothing Drive

As we approach the holiday season, sometimes it is easy to forget about the less fortunate in our local communities. As a firm with roots in Lansing that date back to 1951, we believe in the importance of reaching out and giving back to a city that has been so good to us over six decades – and counting.

This year, our firm, in addition to other Lansing law offices, participated in the 2014 Horn of Plenty donation drive sponsored by the Ingham County Bar Association – Young Lawyers Section. Personal injury lawyers Steve Sinas and Dan Moraniec serve on the board of the Young Lawyers Section and helped plan this year’s drive. Our firm has supported this worthy cause for a number of years now. Benefiting Volunteers of America and Cristo Rey Community Center in Lansing, firms that participated in this year’s Horn of Plenty collected canned goods, other non-perishable food items, gently used clothing, winter coats for adults and children, as well as personal hygiene products. Monetary donations were also collected. On Friday, law clerks Greg Saloka and Howard Chambi (pictured) collected donations from seven Lansing area law firms, including ours!

The tradition dates back to the early stages of the firm, when founders Thomas G. Sinas and Lee C. Dramis were young attorneys. At the end of the year, one of their clients was unable to pay for legal services rendered – at least, not in the traditional way. Instead, he offered to pay with a truckload of bananas. Upon accepting that offer, Tom Sinas and Lee Dramis asked to borrow their client’s truck and ended up distributing the bananas to needy families in the area.

We believe that, while the practice of law and dedication to our clients is a task we take very seriously, it is equally important that we give back to the community. Inspired by our founders, today our firm participates in a number of endeavors, from bringing people together to learn about the law from the best legal minds in the state, to educating children and their families about the importance of staying safe when riding their bicycles. We look forward to continuing to give back, as we are invested in making our state and local communities a better place.
